Within the artwork, I've woven hints that reflect my personal journey as a meteorologist and artist. The presence of a green screen is a reference to my career in broadcasting, spanning over two decades. As you observe the expression on the character's face, you'll catch a glimpse of my whimsical sense of humour, capturing the element of surprise that often accompanies the unpredictable nature of weather. The choice of an aqua or turquoise face is a playful nod to my favorite colour, adding a touch of vibrancy to the composition. And finally, the deep orange or red umbrella not only complements the overall aesthetic, but also symbolises my interest in art and design. As someone who wears both the hat of an artist and a scientist, I have the advantage of approaching ideas from opposite ends of the spectrum. When I tap into my creative side, I find myself irresistibly drawn to two artistic extremes: realism and abstraction.

Tomasz Schafernaker was born in Gdansk, Poland but has lived and attended school both in the UK and his home country. He developed a keen interest in the weather and natural sciences at a young age. Despite his strongest abilities in the arts, he proceeded to obtain a BSc degree in Meteorology from Reading University. During his studies he spent a short time at Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences analysing tropical weather data. He became the youngest male presenter of regional BBC weather forecasts at the age of One of his roles was to work as "mobile weathercaster" providing cover for 10 BBC television stations around the UK. This gave him a good grounding in presenting and from winter he spent some months presenting international weather forecasts for BBC World. Between and Tomasz undertook further meteorological training with the Met Office College in Exeter. This included exams and eighth months of training as an aviation weather forecaster at RAF Lyneham.
