All are sold or died so I'd like to get a bigger mower for my acre instead of the temperamental robot and push mower I have. Probably a bit crazy but I'm thinking commercial but I wonder if their 20hp is the same as a craftsman rider 20hp is? The only conversion of a commercial mower I've seen is a dixie chopper and that used a really big motor but was used in commercial duty. I'm hoping a quick replacing the motor so wonder if I need alot more than the etek or two one deck one transmission like the one I used in the 42" rider I had. I think most of it is just lifespan and reliability not raw power. The machines are heavier but a bit more rugged and perhaps more efficient.

I need a zero turn mower ASAP. Which of these 4 brands would you recommend or avoid? Flat, wide open property, no hills, few trees, primarily wire mesh fence lines. Mowing now 8 acres. We have paid money to have it repaired hitting stumps and bending blades etc.

I have an exmark and have been pretty satisfied except for having to do a lot of double-cutting in tall bahia grass and weeds. I know Scag has a good reputation for being solid and very dependable with good performance in that type cutting environment. My local Grasshopper dealer really talks highly of his machines, and the Grasshopper price is a little more attractive. I just wondered if anyone has used both and how they compare. I'm looking at the Grasshopper and Scag Wildcat, both 52".
