A group of Corinthian gentlemen recognizing the need for an organization devoted primarily to one-design class racing in the Santa Barbara harbor area, gathered on October 28, and laid the foundation for what is now the Santa Barbara Sailing Club. We are one of the leading watersports clubs on the East coast, with family-friendly, multi-level dinghy fleets, wind and kite surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking and a busy social club. The Club maintains a boat storage yard in the Santa Barbara harbor area for the benefit of Flag Members. The yard normally contains about 20 boats up to 26 feet in length. In addition to boat storage, the boat yard serves as a meeting place for pre- and post-race activities.

Our beginner level classes covering the Australian Sailing Start Sailing 1 and Start Sailing 2 are offered as a package of 10 weeks on Saturday mornings. By the completion of the course, you will be proficient in boat terminology, able to rig independently, and able to safely sail at all points of sailing in light conditions.
