A couple of years ago I started making GIFs of female cinematographers with the mission to increase their visibility in search engines and on social media sites. Thanks to this project, I came into contact with Sarah Thomas Moffat. While checking her website for the first time, I had to do a double take. To my great delight and surprise, Sarah had worked on a short film that is amongst my favorites of all time. So much so that when I had first seen it 5 years ago, I had saved it to my computer. I routinely watch it from time to time to be inspired and uplifted.

Sarah Thomas Moffat is a cinematographer who works internationally, while based between LA and London. Sarah is also a natural director and communicated to the engineers her vision for the scene. Walking through the Unreal 5 engine she chose a section of the virtual city, and then lit the scene based on the time of day desired. Beginning as a student PA it has expanded across all departments and genres to successfully establish her as a Cinematographer. Her work ethic is communication, focus and professionalism to see a project through. She connects with them on a human level first. Using this approach STM works towards the greater outcome while aiming for the best. Her leadership and communication skills, combined with knowledge of the industry are highly regarded assets. Lighting all genres of story content, her work has reached TIFF, Hotdocs and many other festivals internationally. Ambassadorship is in her repertoire, having served as a Northern Explorer of Light for Canon Canada, STM lectured in the corporate and public sectors on technology.
