Named after Bert Tarpley, one of the earliest Pacer members and former club President, this event is very much part of the local race calendar.

Established more than 30 years ago, Saint Edmund Pacers is a running club for all abilities and ages that is passionate about fostering a love for running while bringing together individuals from all walks of life. Our club is built on the principles of inclusivity, support, and a family-oriented atmosphere, where members can not only pursue their running aspirations but also build lasting friendships. Our inclusive approach ensures that every member feels welcome and valued, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, pace, or experience. We provide quality coaching and training throughout the week to nurture running potential and create an environment where runners can thrive. The club is split into 2 sections, Juniors for those under 18, and Seniors for everyone older.

The Bury St Edmund-based Pacers were trailing by almost three minutes after the first two legs of this five-stage relay. Each leg was 5km, starting and finishing from Mutford Village Hall. But the Pacers had saved their big guns for the final three legs, eventually recording an overall time of 1hr 28mins 35secs to win by 36 seconds from fellow Bury club West Suffolk AC. This event is run over two distances, 10 miles and 20 miles, and the latter fits perfectly into the training calendar for a spring Marathon. Named after Bert Tarpley, one of the earliest Pacer members and former club President, this event is very much part of the local race calendar. This means there will be no marshals or support vehicles from 2. Our club is built on the principles of inclusivity, support, and a family-oriented atmosphere, where members can not only pursue their running aspirations but also build lasting friendships. The course passes through beautiful countryside and is run along gently undulating country lanes. Which will you choose?
