If I shift my grip to where I can reach it, my trigger finger is now in position to tilt the muzzle left when I press the trigger. Using to hands to draw and release the safety is only barely better than having to rack the slide. My goal is to be able to draw, release the safety, acquire the target, and fire, and to make it seem like a single, fluid motion. I carry a security 9 on occasions I really dont have problem with the manual safety but better to carry with safety off like a striker fire first pull is hard which acts as a safety. I know the security 9 is not a striker fire it actually has a hammer but it is quite safe with manual safety off.

I cocked the bolt again, flipped the safety up to "safe" and pressed trigger to ensure it would not fire. I now am unable to return the pistol's safety to the fire position. It feels like it's caught on something. The pistol is stock except for the installation of a TK hammer bushing, Ruger grip panels, HI VIZ sights, and a quick polish job with a dremel and mini buffing wheel attachment. It has around 2K rounds through it. With the upper off, the safety moves freely up and down with no binding or problems. Engaging the safety is something I almost never do - as when the gun is not being fired, range rules stipulate that the chamber must be open with a chamber flag visibly placed in the firearm.
I'll call Ruger tomorrow Saturday.
It's quite a compact and lightweight hammer-fired pistol designed to be an inexpensive option for self-defense and concealed carry. This pistol with a single-action SA trigger relies on the use of the famous 9mm Luger cartridge. As the Security-9 is a mid-sized handgun, it means it's equally suitable for both open as well as concealed carry. Each machine has its own problems and the same is with guns. One of the most occurring problems with the Ruger Security 9 are related to its slide. So what exactly can go wrong? When the slide is locked to the back and you insert a full magazine the slide lock will not disengage when pulling back on the slide and releasing.

When I first inspected it, I found it was really hard to get the slide stop to set, but was told it would loosen up with firing, and slingshot worked fine. After about rounds, it's easier to set the slide stop. But the problem is the slide "locks out" on last round. There is absolutely no play.

While dry firing a bit, I noticed that the safety clicked off easily -- as it should -- but was very stiff going back on. But OK, I did it. Cleaned it up using some Q-tips and a little cleaner Frog Lube , and reassembled it. At first, the safety problem was similar: easy off, but very stiff going back on again.

Or when trying to manually depress the slide release, it is almost impossible to get it to release. Anyone have any ideas? My repaired EC9s is back from Ruger. They sometimes give them to people as an apology for the hassle. He anticipates the new ones will arrive at week's end, and they are going to call me when they come. If the former, then yes, he'll go ahead and give me a new gun off his shelf.

Scoutbob April 27, , am Most here have multiple handguns. He was great a designing Corvettes, so this should be a piece of cake for him! But cool enough. Or full ambidextrous controls. Sometimes it helps to take your Ruger Security 9 apart and give it a real good cleaning and also clean the feed ramp. The only reason I keep it on the gun is because I keep the gun on my night stand when I sleep and in a dimly lit environment it is a big help. Supply problem I guess, maybe complicated by our bad weather up here recently. I think I remember reading somewhere that they produce a given model in batches, then switch a production line to a different gun. Jerzees August 21, , am 2. I only have the M17 version. My goal is to be able to draw, release the safety, acquire the target, and fire, and to make it seem like a single, fluid motion. No poisonous snakes up here either you guys have rattlers, moccasins, copperheads and coral , nor gaters nor pythons. I was suspicious when he offered to replace your gun himself. With some amount of effort, I got to the local gun shop this afternoon and picked up my EC9s, just back days ago from Ruger repair.
I apologise, but, in my opinion, you are not right. I am assured. I can prove it. Write to me in PM, we will discuss.
