Good education for me about slings, use and history. The sling hooks aka frogs, dogs also are often of cheap manufacture and bend or break. Please consider creating a new thread. The loop is located under the diamond on the stock. For the record, I often usually carry African-style -- barrel down on my offhand shoulder -- and so often mount the sling upside down. And these work fine when also wearing a backpack. So much so that it not only doesn't slip, I can't even pull it off when it's touching the pack straps. But at least by Sunday. That will usually get the length about right to provide the proper amount of tension. This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. A "carry sling" will work with virtually any type of rifle, however a hasty sling may not. Like you, I carry a backpack and the sling has to ride on the nylon strapping of the pack or just above it. But when I think of it, with a pack strap, it makes sense. A wide pad sling on top of a wide synthetic pad pack. Here is a short video on how to get into the hasty sling: The sling does not require a loop to be used in this way. I'll try the new one arriving tomorrow, but if it doesn't work, I'll go back to a Claw. Preferably leather, but would consider other alternatives.
