Round 4 strand braid
Your materials for this trip are straight forward.
A 4 strand round braid is a beautiful braid and it looks absolutely amazing in a high ponytail! A 4 strand round braid works best in ponytails, so I would choose to do it in either a high or a low ponytail depending on what look you are going for! This chain-looking braid is perfect for long hair. If your hair is on the shorter side and still want to give this chain-looking braid a try, then grab some hair extensions and clip them in! You might have some hair sticking out where your hair ends, but a lot of hairspray always helps with that! The links below are affiliate links.
Round 4 strand braid
One version of the 4-strand braid with A-B-A-B strand order. All I know is that I already knew how to make it when I went to learn to weave in Potosi. When I had finished my pieces on the staked-out ground loom, my weaving teacher offered to teach me to make a 4-strand braid. I told her that I already knew how to make one and she looked at me in disbelief challenging me to show her. I did and both she and her sister could hardly contain their laughter! Then Hilda proceeded to show me how they do it by placing the end loops of the warps on their fingers and passing them to and fro from finger to finger from hand to hand. I love it!! It works beautifully to finish the warp ends on bookmarks, key fobs and wall hangings which are naturally in loops. Here are two tutorials for the two methods. The first has step-by-step photos of the way the strands move to form the braid. You can experiment with it and see how it best suits you to hold the strands in your hands.

Once you know how to make a basic, flat, eight strand braid, you can move on to more complex ones, such as the round or square braid. Paracord works the best for this, but you can also use thin, flat leather lacing or even embroidery floss! Thanks for reading our article!

If at any point you forget what side you left off on, the strand to start with is the rightmost or leftmost strand that appears slightly higher up where it comes out of your braid. Send me a video lf you can. I just need to try it a time or two and see how the final product looks compared to 4 single strand. The order from left to right would then be A, B, D, C. I started on a new backstrap project. With lettering, take the H strand from its position between B and C at the end of the previous step. If you find a 4 strand braid easy or want to try something a bit harder, then then add one more strand and do a 5 strand braid! The finger-loop method used by my weaving teachers and the method I show above actually produce structurally different braids. The loop method is fun and fast and so convenient for finishing a weaving as you already have looped warp ends with which to work. Thank you very much for this. Hi I like to know if you have a video how to braid.

Passionate about backstrap weaving. There could well be a more efficient way to do it which more experienced braiders may know. The same goes for the threads shown as B1 and B2…. Your lettered strands were A, B, D, C from left to right after tightening the first side. Now the two white strands are in the center. How do you end the braid? The new order from left to right will then be B, A, D, C. This completes the sequence. About This Article. I did goof a bit. That was really nice.
