Like any Paris district the Ile de la Cite has plenty of dining possibilities, from the quick and easy to the slow and luxurious. Being a major tourist destination there are plenty of restaurants catering to visitors to our city with English menus and an ability to help the overseas visitor. There are many small restaurants on the island, try some of these interesting option listed roughly from west to east:. Bistrot Au Bougnat - aubougnat. Traditional foods for the region and wines to match are available in this intimate setting. La Rose De France - Situated at 24 Place Dauphine this quiet affordable luxury traditional restaurant offers an excellent kitchen and cellar, larosedefrance. Le Caveau du Palais - Also on Place Dauphine this traditional small restaurant is a favorite with the resident celebrities.

Everywhere was teeming with tourists like us, I guess! Our young granddaughter was hot, tired, jet-lagged, and thirsty so we decided to get off this main street. The first street left is rue Chanoinesse , which was miraculously very quiet. Colorful tables and chairs are set out on the narrow sidewalk, framed by a huge wisteria bush, very green but not flowering in July. It was perfect for that day. A charming setting on a quiet street, but close to the hustle and bustle. We found out that it was built around as the home for the canon of the nearby cathedral hence the name of the street. Apparently, the wisteria is famous, planted right after WW2 and has a special permit that allows it to grow that tall. We sat outside, but went inside to have a look. The ground floor has a bar and a very tiny toilet off a small courtyard.
