While I understand the more popular you are, the more scrutiny you're under, I feel like any scrutiny should be addressed, but not necessarily be used to shape ourselves as content creators, whatever form that takes. If you want to avoid deviant content out of fear your art might be misused, that is your choice. I'm gonna use yet another example. The responsibility, then, lies on the people who would use fiction to abuse others, in my opinion. Log In or Create an Account. It is not only terrible for art, but is a cesspit for normies and "outrage brigades" and "cancel culture". But while I believe you to be sincere and appreciate your apology, I also don't feel you owed me one. They might not be your best work, but School Daze and The Deep Dark were some of the first pieces of smut I read back when I was suicidal, depressed, and struggling with both my sexuality and obsessive-compulsive disorder senior year of high school. We all have things we wish we'd known or done sooner, what's important is learning and growing instead of choosing to remain against such progress. Most wouldn't care enough to do that. Odd and the opinionated folk. That being said, cub will always be a sensitive topic that will never go away in the fandom and I can see both sides of it. But that didn't stop a bunch of people from digging that stuff up and kicking up a shit-storm about it years later. ValtheJean Brushie Cat 9 months ago Oh gosh so true! You make great art, stick to it, and don't let a small portion of people influence your entire being. Ignorant statements I've made. It's terrible for art, has an extremely toxic community, filled with nazis now and is set to implode. I was experimenting the same damn things in my life as a young gay man, thanks to what the culture showed me as a right model, and thanks to all the men who wanted my ass without any care about my youth and all the things that it was involving. I hope to continue seeing art from you and i really really hope these experiences don't dull that creative spark you have. Tl;Dr Keep your taboo fantasies to yourself. Throw poes law in there and you occasionally get complete s on the intended effect of the creation, and that's hardly the artists fault. Overall I'd say its good to keep the opinions and thoughts of others in mind, though don't forgo what makes you happy. However, I agree with you, as you implied, that some people don't have that same mentality and find the usage of certain topics, such as cub, rape, torture, slavery, or slurs harmful in works of art. You also have to consider intent. I don't imagine the cub art you did was any different and even if we play devil's advocate for the people treating it like something harmful it's something you've moved on from so there is no point dredging up the past to make new wounds. Either due to past traumatic events or sympathy or, let's be honest, moral certitude, it triggers an emotional response that they just can't handle. So how does a person change or move past something when everything you say or do or produce is now, basically, set in stone?
