Tyka, along with others who Prince trusted with his most prized collection, has spent the last four years uncovering and preserving treasures that only an artist as transcending as Prince could create, prince vault.
Death is not an end, but a beginning. Prince Rogers Nelson believed that in his bones. So it was that the night Prince died, a new era, the era of the vault, began. By the time Prince was 40, he had written and recorded more songs than any artist could possibly release in a lifetime. To house all of his unreleased recordings, Prince constructed a vault in the basement of his Paisley Park complex in the suburbs of Minneapolis.

He delivered a mix of anthems and pop hits drawn from his 39 studio albums. And yet, there was something curiously missing from that "Welcome 2 America" tour: songs from the album "Welcome 2 America" — an album Prince wrote and recorded right before the tour, but then never released or performed in public. That music - which you'll hear for the first time tonight - went into Prince's vault, a trove of material this blazingly prolific artist secreted away. Five years after Prince's death, administrators of his estate are cracking open the vault. Let's Go Crazy was one of five number one hits. When Prince died, he was still selling more albums than any other living musician. To unravel the Prince paradox, we started here: Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis - his hometown. From the outside, there's nothing Paisley about it. Enter and the place is a trippy dreamscape, Oz accented in purple, not green - though a pair of doves overhead is still white…. Now a museum, Paisley Park wasn't just where Prince worked; he lived above the shop so he could make music anytime inspiration struck - which was basically always. The Prince estate invited us inside Studio B.

In late , the single was reissued, including the full version of the track. In , the track was included as the second track on the compilation album The Very Best Of Prince. In , the track was included as the fourth track on the first disc of the compilation album Ultimate. Buff has stated in an interview that Prince re-recorded a humourous version as in at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota for a planned skit in which he would have been on disguised as a 18th century musician for the Muppets Tonight TV show. This version did not make the final cut, however, and remains unreleased.
