But I found a bloke who did a full build using this PE , so I sucked it up and got their kit , all was there this time round. You just saved me a bunch of money. If the Iowa is anything like this I won't be buying it either. For all that's Holy, why can't they get the Bow and Stem correct according to photos and plans. They also never include the Below the waterline Bulb, However small on any ship that has one!. Look at the Box Art. Look at the Wisconsin here at home or the Missouri in Pearl then Compare. They still ain't got it right! I want to say that Midwest Model Shop built this kit can't remember if he used Pontos , that ran to like 21 YT episodes. Was a pretty terrific build for being mostly out of the box I don't think his Deck Blue was 'blue' enough. That's up to 30 something episodes and not quite done yet. His build just confirms to me that Pontos hired the guys ar Dragon who would design parts to be 5 things when they could be just one. Which confirmed my opinion of the Pontos Texas set. Sigh Hope the new owner of that is happy. Like Tanker, the fact that no one appears to be able to read body plans and put the bulb on the bow is vexing.
In profile, the bow below the waterline should be near verticle. Posted pontos 1 200 missouri steve5 on Wednesday, June 2, PM thankyou capnfor the full explaination of how the bulb works. Was a pretty terrific build for being mostly out of the box I don't think his Deck Blue was 'blue' enough.
It's me again. I must be crazy as a loon for starting two build logs at the same time, but I figured that hey, since I'm building both models at the same time, why not? Luckily, I've been posting tons of pictures of my progress on my model warship forum so I'm able to pick out some of the more interesting ones to post here. After I sold my Scarab, I was itching to build another big boat. I still may do that someday - if I live long enough, but now I'd power it with an electric motor. They've come a long way in the past few years.

By vossy November 20, in Plastic model kits. Its all part of Kev's journey, bit like going to the dark side, but with the lights on. I've got both; the Pontos kit is more complete especially with the "advanced detail set" and has a better wooden deck. Still, the KA set is not bad at all. I just have the Pontos for the Bismark. Thier first set,I still have to get theiur second set for the Bismark. The wood decks are also the correct style with the correct edge nibbing of the planks. Now I have been building wooden ship models for over the past year, with these kits above put back on the waiting to continue shelf. Availability Shipping in 2 days Scale Oh, and when you get under the counter at the stern, the stripe remains horizontal, parallel to the keel, and not a constant width. The anchors were modified a bit to get more angle to them. Paste as plain text instead. Now with that in mind, any place where the hull is angled, like back near the stern, above the screws, the stripe will be a bit wider because of the angle. Tamiya Masking Tape 10mm. But, it's mostly history and I didn't seem to see a lot of detail about the ship itself. First I drew pencil lines every 35mm along the hull, using those lines to position the long ones. One guy painted this part a light grey, good for the modern version, but not the s era ship. I also took a picture of the catapults before I painted them so you could see the amount of brass detail that went into these sub-assemblies. Found this photo: Paravane cable would be one of the things that would have been stowed in a reel on the foredeck, possibly under a canvas cover. I added the hull plates using leftover styrene strips. In profile, the bow below the waterline should be near verticle. Posted by steve5 on Monday, June 7, AM is this what you mean capn , the boot stripe tapers down at the aft end. As the pitch down becomes a pitch up there's also very little there to resist that movement. Note the top of the "wing", looks like it penetrates the hull, but still open just above.
