Plastic oxygen not included
If you are on Terra the standard starting asteroid in the base game and "Classic" option of Spaced Plastic oxygen not includedfinding oil is easy: dig down and you will eventually reach the oil biome. Terrania, the standard small starting biome in Spaced Out, does not have an oil biome.
Polymer press is the fastest way to get plastic. All you need to do is get to the oil biome which doesn't take too long and build a gold amalgam pump in the oil, pipe it to a refinery, pipe the outputs to a polymer press, and you are pretty much done. Though the polymer presses should be in water because they generate A LOT of heat and a tiny amount of steam. You probably want atmosuits to do this, or you may end up with burnt duplicants who keep having to run out of the room for air, but it is not strictly speaking necessary. Glossy dreckos are the other solution. These require ranchers and some know how.

Covered below. You can tap into an Oil Reservoir by building an Oil Well on top of it. The first metal refinery I set up, I do not use the petroleum loop with the turbine, plastic oxygen not included, instead I just dump the heat into a water source.

Glossy Drecko. Shearing station. Ranching basics are covered earlier in this guide. This part is specifically about drecko ranching for plastic. There are two kinds of dreckos: regular and glossy. Both can be sheared using a Shearing Station unlocked through researching Ranching , then found under stations. Dreckos drop reed fiber.

He is in no hurry to reach the grooming station. This can be used to your advantage by having a tile or two of oil that can help keep temperatures from spiking. Seal the ceiling and you'll probably get some H2 there so you'll get more shears out of each drecko, if not, meh. All of whom have their operating priority raised. In the storage bin, plastic is found under Manufactured Material. If you want to stop gases from mixing between the oil biome and the rest of your base, you can put a liquid lock by the entrance to the oil biome. This can be done by adding a door and modifying door permissions. You can add a second atmo suit dock by removing the ladder in the oil refinery room and moving everything over one tile to the left. Has an output pipe for carbon dioxide. Not included in the above pictures is cooling. Not that I have ever sent my dupes into dangerously hot environments without suits, of course. Enough plastic for turbines.

Crimsontide Posted January 22, There are plenty of posts about ranching, and it hasn't changed significantly in a long time. Without a carbon dioxide output gas pipe the Polymer Press won't function. Since I need for oil anyway, I might as well make some plastic and have a steam turbine to cool the coolant. With some simple automation you can have your oil well turn off when you have a specified amount of oil stored. Therefore, I almost always build a oil refinery early to get plastic. I would have to disagree with you on your option 2 being hard. This topic is now archived and is closed to further replies. I also usually don't have the ladder in the refinery room and instead move the petroleum liquid reservoir one tile to the right. These require ranchers and some know how.
How so?
