I hate Pinterest. It starts in the toes and goes straight up to the roots of my teeth. Whenever I google something and I see Pinterest in the search results that wave of dull loathing washes over me. Pinterest is the most useless form of social media available—remarkable when you consider Twitter exists. It is not informative. It does not gather people together.

Although it has existed since and has an active userbase of more than million monthly users, it has never cracked the zeitgeist in the same way as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Once a place for ideas, it is now an ad-focused platform that tries to push products with every pin. When it first came out, Pinterest stood out from other social media platforms because it was a place to find inspiration. You could create and curate your own boards without interacting with others, or you could follow friends and exchange ideas. Better yet, you could only follow specific boards. For example, if you had a friend with excellent taste in home decor but who pinned way too many cakes for your liking, you could unfollow their desserts board. This resulted in a home feed that was tailored to your interests, but one that still allowed you to discover new and interesting things.

You can either delete your account to permanently remove your profile and boards from Pinterest, or you can deactivate your account to take a pause from Pinterest and reactivate it later. Do you want to stop using your account for business? You can convert a business account to a personal account.

I hadn't looked at mine for awhile. That's what I did - I really only use my boards - I haven't looked at the feed since they broke it. Posts: 17, Likes: Posts: 2, Likes: 1. Reason: Added a bit more info. Refbacks are Off. I have looked and looked for a way to turn the ads off in the settings but can't find anything. You could also post pics of friends or cool vacations you recently went on. I don't think I've ever messed with settings. I blocked a few, but there were too many different companies. There were crafts, but no cards, and you would see the same pins over and over. I was getting hundreds of those blasted 'picked for you' things so I went into my profile and found the Home Feed setting and turned those off. Received 5 Likes on 2 Posts. Then about three weeks ago, I started seeing ads, both "Picked for You" and just regular ads. I don't see anything regarding ads specifically. They ruined it.
