This article draws upon J. Austin's speech act theory for a textual analysis of "narco-banners" —public messages signed by criminal organizations. In these short and fragmentary texts, it is possible to perceive the emergence of an incipient political discourse. In particular, these banners display an idea of justice, a search for public legitimacy, and fragile attempts to occupy the voice of a popular "We". The distinction between the criminal and the political is at stake in the interpretation of the violence that these banners attempt to impose. Ya no me busquen en Tamaulipas, el Mayo, el Chapo y el Nacho Coronel me traisionaron y me mataron afuera del estadio Banorte en Culiacan.

The United States remains attentive to the innovation of methods that can also serve to introduce terrorist cells or even weapons of mass destruction. In the last ten years, the proliferation of submersible and semi-submersible, with difficult detection, has monopolized a third of the drug transport from South America to the United States. The incorporation of GPS systems by the cartels also makes the global fight against narcotics difficult. A possible use of these new methods for terrorist purposes keeps the United States on high alert. Drug trafficking to large consumer markets, especially the United States and Europe, is especially innovative: the magnitude of the business leads to attempts in overcoming any barriers placed by the States to prevent their penetration and distribution. In the case of the United States, where the illicit arrival of narcotics dates back to the 19th century—from opium to marijuana and cocaine—, authorities have continuously managed to intercept many shipments of drugs, but traffickers find new ways and methods to introduce significant volumes of narcotics. The most disturbing method in the last ten years has been the use of boat submersibles and semi-submersibles, which have commonly been given the name of narco-submarines. They allow several tons of substances to be transported—five times more than a fishing boat can transport—dodging the US Coast Guard's surveillance [1]. Satellite technology has also led traffickers to drop drug loads into the sea, then be collected by recreational boats without raising suspicion. For many years, the conventional way of transporting drugs that leave South America to the United States has been through fishing boats, speedboats and light aircraft. Advances in airborne detection and tracking techniques have pushed drug traffickers to look for new ways to take their loads to the North.

Blog del Narco Narco's Blog is a citizen journalism blog that attempts to document the events of the Mexican drug war , primarily those not reported by the government of Mexico or the Mexican news media. An anonymous person created the website because the government was not reporting the violence and was trying to pretend that "nothing [was] happening", the media was "intimidated", and the "government had apparently been bought. The author would initially spend four hours every day working on the website. To deal with the increased workload, he asked a friend, also anonymous, to help him. They decided to broadcast their content without alteration or modifications of convenience—and help Mexicans take all necessary precautions to protect their own well-being.
According to the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas , since October 24 it became difficult to access the blog through several Internet browsers, including Google Chrome. The blog is less than three years old but in some ways became synonymous in the international media for the anonymous documentation of drug-related deaths. Blog del Narco also monitored the expansion of drug gang tactics to include uniforms, armored cars and other high-power weaponry. In some cases, criminal gangs would reportedly distribute videos and other promotional material like photos of a hitman and his attractive stream of girlfriends directly to the website. Imitation sites like Diario del Narco and La Policiaca both perform the same service as Blog del Narco, often using similar design. But no anonymous website on Mexican violence became quite as public as the Blog del Narco did.
