Some thoughts, 1 we live in a very dry place , so no grounding issues or corrosion on any electrical parts 2 battery is less than 1 year old, no charging issues 3 i have pulled and both cleaned Cam-shaft sensors of normal Gray residue you get at K miles of engine wear that accumulates on this magnetic sensor 3 electrical failure of both sensors at the same time seems unlikely 4 the one time i heard it on start-up, there was also a rather disturbing sound from engine like a starter grinding. Hoping like heck this rattle wasn't the timing chain My concern, possibly stretched timing chain or malfunctioning cam phasers.

Although I've been told that it may be the camshaft itself by a Subaru dealership, I have reason to believe that that is not the case. If you are sitting at a light idling and the chk engine light comes on then I would suspect the cam or sensor. Once again, the car worked fine for a couple of days then started having issues again which could be due to the aluminum foil changing size and getting out of tolerance. I see two camshaft sensors in my copy of the 05 manual, one left and one right.
