The Opel Vectra is a mid-size car large family car that was engineered and produced by the German automaker Opel from until Available in saloon , hatchback [1] and estate body styles, the Vectra was also sold by the Vauxhall marque in the United Kingdom as the Vauxhall Cavalier from to and then as the Vauxhall Vectra from to , and it was also sold by Holden in Australia as the Holden Vectra , by Chevrolet in Latin America as the Chevrolet Vectra. The Vectra was introduced in October as a replacement for the Opel Ascona , and was itself replaced in November by the new Opel Insignia , the nameplate spanning three generations and almost twenty one years. The first generation Vectra, known as the Vectra A, was introduced in October for the model year, as a four-door notchback saloon , replacing the Opel Ascona C. Both cars were designed by the Opel design chief at the time, Wayne Cherry. Vauxhall Motors, the British GM subsidiary that shared most of its models with Opel, did not use the "Vectra" model name - opting instead to continue the use of the Cavalier nameplate - effectively making the Vectra A a third-generation Cavalier when carrying Vauxhall branding.

Segment: Medium Production years: , , , Opel refreshed the third and last generation of the Vectra lineup in and dramatically improving its styling, but it was a little too late for the European sedan. The German carmaker built the third generation of the Vectra on the GM's Epsilon platform and introduced it on the market in It made it in three body shapes: three-box sedan, two-and-a-half hatchback, and station wagon. On the outside, the most striking difference was on the headlights, where a pair of swept-back, tear-shaped headlights replaced the previous, squared-looking lamps. The Vectra finally received the face it deserved. It provided an improved appearance on the road with a taller grille and a wide V-shaped chromed trim. The carmaker also changed the taillights at the back, introducing clear turn-signals lenses on the upper side of the lamps. The top section of the cockpit and the door trims were redesigned by leather-like grain. Its front bucket seats offered better support.

Opel prepared itself for the Euro 4 Emission standards and introduced a facelift for Vectra's second generation in for the entire range. The German carmaker stayed true to its values and offered the Vectra a choice of three bodies: a sedan, a liftback named GTS , and a station wagon.
