I'm trying to do the opening quest and I have to gather some copper, I ran like m to a copper deposit and used 2 batteries worth of the terrain modulator making a crater the size of the one that killed the dinosaurs and didn't find any copper at all. Copper is not one of the rarer resources in the game. Nevertheless, finding copper can be hard because not every planet has the resource. You need copper for a lot of things like refining Chromatic Metal.
