This ranked reader-voted list of the 50 best Nintendo DS games is governed by Nintendo Life User Ratings and can change depending on those scores. Feel free to rate your favourites and, perhaps, rejig the ranking below. One of the joys of Nintendo's Switch is how it marries the company's home console heritage with its equally prestigious handheld line. Ask anybody over the age of 30 to name a handheld system and "Game Boy" will likely still be the first answer; the name became synonymous with portable gaming just as home consoles were routinely referred to as "Nintendos" back in the day. Younger generations, though, are more likely to name the unlikely upstart that stole Game Boy's portable crown and permanently ousted that mighty brand name from Nintendo's lineup: Nintendo DS. It's strange to think back to a time when the Nintendo DS — that odd-looking folding system — was positioned as a 'third pillar' alongside GameCube and Game Boy Advance. That was until it promptly slayed the Boy king and took his throne. The original prototype and even the initial 'Phat' version of the hardware certainly didn't look like much of a threat. The early reveal model Reggie pulled from his pocket looked undeniably clunky, especially up against the sleek elegance of Sony's PSP. There was a nervousness from fans that Sony's arrival on the handheld market was the death knell to Nintendo's dominance in the same way it had been with the home console market nearly a decade earlier. How was an ugly dual-screen Game and Watch-alike going to win a console war?!
Dawn of Sorrow is another one of my favorites. Also surprised that no mention of Trauma Center was even uttered in this article.
The best DS games reflect just how unstoppable Nintendo's dual-screen system was. The handheld console launched in and was supposed to sit between the GameCube and Game Boy Advance, although it didn't take long for the DS to eclipse both. As it stands, the Nintendo DS has shifted over million units, making it the most successful handheld console of all-time. Sorry, Nintendo Switch! Perhaps its popularity has something to do with its fantastically diverse library — honestly, this list of the 25 best Nintendo DS games only scratches the surface, and with many of us still clinging tight to our DS Lites or DS classics, it's good to know we can dip back into a favorite any time we want.
Now 19 years after the Nintendo DS first hit the street, Nintendo's first handheld has proven itself as one of the best-selling gaming consoles ever launched. The Nintendo DS was once thought to be a flash in the pan, but it ended up determining the future of Nintendo over the following years and even laid the groundwork for the massively successful Nintendo Switch. Features an engaging and unparalleled storyline, leading to the discovery of multiple epic conclusions to a journey that transcends time. Blue Castle Games. Nonetheless a nice compilation of games! I agree, by Zelda's standards they weren't anything amazing but they made interesting use of the touch screen, they're still worth a play. Restricting the list to 50 and zoning in on the most popular titles won't make a ranking worth reading. There are only about a dozen good games in the entire DS library that don't fall into any of those genres, and it's not likely that all of them suit your individual tastes. Looking at this list I can't believe how many of these games I have actually played! I might still enjoy the games today though, who knows That's the best one after SNES. Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Add in the tight racing mechanics that have remained a mainstay of the series since its inception and you have the best DS experience money can buy. The 3DS actually does transform the experience, pity about the ultra low p. I really enjoyed both titles; ST in particular I feel was a great game.
Review New Super Mario Bros.
Around the World in 80 Days. Good job community!! Ghostlight Midas Interactive Entertainment. AlienX NO sonic classic collection was a terrible port job. FFIV makes sense, it's a good full 3d remake of a classic game, but visually identical Chrono Trigger? Too many rpgs at the top imo. With its approachable touchscreen input and huge breadth of software to appeal to audiences old and young, gamer and non-gamer alike, the DS helped bring handheld gaming to the masses which had felt 'excluded' from the Game Boy phenomenon for whatever reason. Aerona I have played Style Savvy, and honestly couldn't get into it. Come on, get voting, people! Nice work.
I confirm. It was and with me. We can communicate on this theme.
