The Nike Epic React running shoe was first released 2 years ago, at the beginning of Nike was on a mission to find the perfect balance between soft cushioning and responsive energy return without the shoe being too heavy. According to Nike, their in-house chemists and mechanical engineers put Nike React technology through more than 2, hours of testing on the feet of basketball players to find this perfect combination. You mentioned the epic react is slightly more cushioned front or rear? Which be better as a daily trainer and tempo shoe. Hi Anonymous, Thanks for reading and commenting. Unfortunately we don't yet have the exact stack heights but it is a 10mm drop same as Epic React 2. I find the Epic slightly more cushioned especially at the forefoot but not nearly as lively as the Forever Energy. In terms of comparison to Beacon both Epic React and Forever are more cushioned at the heel, mainly as they have more stack there although don't have the exact Forever heel height with Beacon and Epic feeling about the same in terms of the cushion at the forefoot. I would select the Epic if you want a steady very light daily trainer and the heavier Forever if you want a slightly more performance oriented feel especially up front.

The Forever has considerably more outsole rubber than either of the others. Select Beacon if you want a more relaxed upper and more natural kind of feel, a bit harder to tame though. Sam, Editor.

The second iteration of the Epic React looks and feels similar to the first: A low-profile silhouette and seamless upper give it a streamlined look, and a pop of color illuminates the midsole. Engineers used React foam and a Nike Flyknit upper that is a proven star in other Nike running shoes. But it's not the changes that make the new Epic React an all-star; it's what Nike kept the same that makes the new version a burner on the road and a head-turner off of it. Nike draped a Flyknit upper over the shoe to give the Epic React a dynamic fit. The knit around the midfoot provides structure and support but makes a seamless transition to the forefoot where you need more stretch. One Fleet Feet tester who has medium-width feet found the upper to be as comfortable for cruising as it is for speedier efforts. She put the shoe through easy six-milers and tough mile speed workouts and thought they could comfortably handle even longer distances. They stayed comfy for a mile speed workout, so I would give them a shot for a longer run as well. The snug fit was a bit too tight for another tester with wide feet, though. Nike says the shoe is designed to fit snug when worn in your normal size.

I was really looking forward to this model.

Even though we're not allowed out of our houses, staying fit and healthy indoors is now easier than ever thanks to the Nike Epic React Flyknit 2 "B I also agree the Epic React has more bounce and for me can be a daily trainer while the K10 is more responsive somewhat firmer and is more a faster days and race shoe. I much preferred React when combined with the carbon plate in the Zoom Fly Flyknit and for sure its implementation in the new Kiger 5 RTR Review where on trail such dense but light and stable foams are what you need. Hope: I am coming around on the Pegasus Turbo, truly. I loved the original, and I love this updated version of the Epic React. Unfortunately, despite these shoes being super comfortable and attractive, they just didn't give enough energy return and were not responsive enough for me. The ER2 is wicked smooth, fast-transitioning, and just plain fun to run in. They understood that something soft usually absorbs energy, whereas a runner wants something responsive that will spring back. I marvel that the entire shoe is made up of a total of about 14 parts by my count, laces included, so a triumph of simple design and reduced labor and waste to build. How did Forever Energy fit you?
