Motu m2 review
It was widely used at the time, before they began branching out into other popular software and hardware solutions. Since the success of the , MOTU have been launching a wide range of midi interfaces, for all levels of of music production. The casing is solid metal, and so are the knobs which have no wobble at all. This gives it a slightly industrial feel, as most other interfaces at this price point have small, stick-on pads. These chunky strips also house 4 screws which help to keep the case attached to the circuit board inside. After removing a few more screws from the back and front panel, the circuit board slides out if its solid metal casing, which seems to have been over engineered to mitigate any risk of accidental damage. It feels bullet-proof, actually very similar in design and strength to the casing of the Focusrite Scarlett Series. There were some upgrades to the MOTU M2 in , 2 years after its launch which made some improvements:. Use balanced cables TRS wherever possible to connect devices to you 2i2 interface. This includes your microphones and studio monitors. Balanced cables are a bit more expensive, and have 2 rings rather than one ring. Motu m2 review
The M2 offers more flexibility and a better user experience than your average entry-level audio interface. To the right is an LCD screen. This screen displays the levels for each input and the main output. We like how the gain knobs and input controls are directly next to each input. This layout makes the M2 easy to navigate without overthinking. Finally, the large volume knob is a bonus. We prefer this knob to be as large as possible since we use it the most.

Build quality. High-quality, low-noise preamps. I own an M4. Unlike 3 year back, I get mini USB for other bluetooth speaker. Still, a very nice overall result, IMO. DC coupled outputs. Balanced cables are a bit more expensive, and have 2 rings rather than one ring. This includes your microphones and studio monitors. Sep 17, Dink. DTNT said:. The preamps are good and the gain levels are about average for that price class. Similar threads. The M2 and M4 are no exception. I returned the first one immediately and did not take a picture. The M2 and M4 are no exception. This way you could make use of the preamps and digital convertors to amplify your sound for headphone practice or straight to speakers. The M2 has the look of other Motu products:. If you were to compare it with the M4, which has the extra 2 line inputs, the M4 is slightly heavier and bigger. Top Bottom. This gives it a slightly industrial feel, as most other interfaces at this price point have small, stick-on pads. It lacks bass. Thanks Amir for measuring this and make me interested in Motu now. Installation requires a driver from the MOTU website, where you'll also find a bundle of software and loops including a lite version of their own Digital Performer software.
