Certain traits that generals can get increase replenishment rates of any army they are connected to, and those are free. Also, some of the arts you can master increase the replenishment rate. Upgrading fortresses helps, as does upgrading the roads. If you have soem free slots in an upgraded city, you can build military encampments which seriously increase the replenishment rate. What I do is I choose a city relatively close to where I will be doing a lot of fighting, and do all of the things I justm entioned, essentially making that region a base for regrouping my armies post-battle.

For those that don't know, you can replenish your units anywhere, without them having to be in a city, thus negating the tiresome micromangement of moving a unit to some city that can actually produce it. My question is can this sort of replenishment system be implemented in M2TW? You would not be able to produce troops in that city if you don't have the proper facilities, but you could retrain them. Its best to keep one or two partial elite units in castles to help defend them. In rome I kept so many partial units in cities it wasn't funny. Then if I saw it was going to be attacked BOOM a full stack of well trained troops in the city in one turn!!!! No upkeep till you need them, it was a perfect situation. As far as I know the upkeep goes down if a unit is not at a full strength.

To actually refill the ranks of your unit, you have to open up the recruitment screen in the province your army is in, and then select your army so they're both open, then you drag said unit into the production que and end turn.
