Marantz 2270

For theI plugged an iPad into the aux input.

My first vintage audio purchase was a Marantz receiver. People always seem impressed that I own a Marantz and even though I enjoy owning one, there are things people should consider before spending a lot of money on one. In this article, I will discuss the features I like about the Marantz but also point out some of the common pains that come with owning one. The receiver has two phono inputs allowing you to hook up two separate turntables into the one unit. The unit also contains tone controls for bass, mid and treble, along with a balance knob to help you better tune the sound for your room. The Marantz also provides a variety of buttons for Mono playback, Loudness adjustment as well as High and Low filters. This is one of my favorite features of the as it allows you to experiment with the sound by swapping in different pre and power amps. The 70 in the Marantz model number means the receiver is rated at 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms which will power most speakers easily.

When it comes to vintage audio equipment, few models can hold a candle to the popularity and enduring appeal of the Marantz stereo receiver. Designed by the legendary audio engineer Sid Smith, the Marantz embodied the spirit of the s audio technology. It was well-regarded for its perfect blend of power, performance, and a strikingly beautiful design, hallmarked by the famous Marantz blue dial. The Marantz offered a robust 70 watts per channel into 8 ohms, which was quite impressive for its time. It had the capability to power most speakers of the era and even many modern speakers. Sound-wise, the Marantz was lauded for its warm, almost tube-like sound, a characteristic trait of Marantz receivers. It had a rich, detailed sound staging, and its ability to render the midrange frequencies was especially noteworthy. The bass was decent, though not as punchy as some of the more modern systems. Aesthetically, the Marantz was a masterpiece.

Have a great and happy , I know once this is fixed mine will be. Having occasionally looked to see what one of these is worth, I feel like the market already topped out and is starting to decile so if you were going to sell the thing you might not be able to do much better than in the current market I like the way you think, obviously you are willing to consider the possibility that it's a crap shoot on the synergy - meaning the mix of gear and of course our own subjective perception. I still has a few scratches on the front face plate and the top side, the feet were still missing and the famous power button was hard wired to on and I bought a sweet power strip for that problem. I couldn't afford the system as a year-old but it is my main system today. This is the classic Marantz receiver in a beautiful wood case. Anyone familiar with vintage audio knows that Marantz built some of the best receivers of the time.

Picked up a few months back, got it professionally cleaned although it was already pretty clean. I sold some Wharfedale speakers to a friend so I know how they sounded with my Marantz and they sounded terrible to me with this brand new mid-range Denon I think AVR that he powered them with. Deeper sound, quieter idle, clarity that wasn't there on the highs new caps certainly helped. Reviewed Aug 16th, by CdnDeuce Owned one in the early seventies. I'm running a Philips Electronic through it and it's glorious. I first heard the Marantz paired with a set of Klipsch Cornwall speakers and a Marantz turntable. It has gone from owner to owner and has been used in so many different ways. Never had a really good stereo set up before, although I heard many multi-buck systems in the past. This is a vintage site and the Marantz receivers are sacred cows around here, so it is unlikely that more than a handful of folks would post an unkind word about them.
I think, that you commit an error. Let's discuss it. Write to me in PM.
