Thanks to Baradwaj Rangan's interview with Sanjay Narayanan , I got to watch the latter's feature debut Maalai Nera Malipoo - firstly, the interview's thumbnail of someone made a good film at just 21 lured me right away and even though the film had its own rough edges in making at times probably owing to the limited budget and crew, I honestly didn't expect this honest a film in terms of writing! Just like the first chapter title asks us " Who pushed me here ", we get straight away pushed into the sex-worker profession of Lakshmi in the present and her past for the rest of the film flashes only in the form of her dreams, be it either daydreaming or night…. This film is directed by 21 years old. Yes that's huge, but that's should not be the only one thing to be praised.
