There are quite a few E46 s out there m52tu engine number on this forumso it's not particularly rare or valuable. Everything else being equal, m52tu engine, I'd argue it's less valuable than the later cars due to the pre cars being especially susceptible to the RACP tear issue.

All four engines came with an 84mm cylinder bore. The camshafts are different, but the cylinder heads are the same. Just keep the cams and cam trays with the engine. I know this because I have disassembled approximately 12 M54 and M52TU engines, and have rebuilt about 10 of them.
