Lucifer is an American urban fantasy television series developed by Tom Kapinos that began airing on January 25, , and concluded on September 10, In the series, Lucifer is the devil but abandons Hell to run a nightclub in Los Angeles , subsequently experiencing massive life changes when he becomes a consultant to the Los Angeles Police Department. Television served as producers. Filming took place primarily in Vancouver before production was relocated entirely to Los Angeles at the start of the third season. The first season received mixed reviews from critics, and its original broadcaster Fox canceled it after three seasons in May One month later, Netflix picked up the show following the fanbase's campaign to save it, and the series continued for a further three seasons; it consistently earned high viewership during its time on Netflix. The series focuses on Lucifer Morningstar , a powerful angel who was cast out of Heaven for his rebellion and forced to spend millennia punishing people as the lord of Hell.

However, a fan-sourced petition began to circulate online, asking for the show to be moved to a different network. Consequently, in , Season 4 premiered on Netflix and received two consecutive seasons thereafter. The crime-drama hosts a bundle of potential favorite episodes. He is an adaptation of Lucifer —the Biblical fallen angel and devil of Christianity —and is one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe. Lucifer appears primarily as a supporting character in The Sandman and as the protagonist of the spin-off Lucifer. The spin-off series Lucifer — written by Mike Carey depicts his adventures on Earth, Heaven, and in the various other realms of his family's creations and in uncreated voids after abandoning Hell in The Sandman. Two angels, a human, and briefly Superman [2] have taken his place as ruler of Hell. English actress Gwendoline Christie portrays a third version of the character in the Netflix series The Sandman —present. While Lucifer had previously appeared in various stereotypical guises in earlier DC Comics books, Gaiman's version was premised on English poet and prose writer John Milton 's Paradise Lost. Over that time, he had manipulated the various demons of Hell against each other, provided a place for dead mortals to be tormented, and led the war against Heaven. However, at some point during his rule, he had become bored with his existence. He became tired of the various stereotypes and prejudices that mortals held of the devil, such as the idea that he purchased and traded for souls, which was largely untrue, and that he forced mortals to commit evil acts.
