He was the second apprentice of Darth Sidious , the Dark Lord of the Sith, whose plan to conquer the galaxy relied on Dooku leading a pan- galactic secessionist movement against the Republic. As such, Dooku immersed himself in the dark side of the Force and worked tirelessly to advance his and his master's plans, but ultimately forgot that treachery was the way of the Sith , while also being unaware that he was just a pawn of his master, who viewed him as no more than an expendable piece in his grand plan. A political idealist, the corruption in the Galactic Senate —as well as the traditions of the Jedi —disillusioned him, causing Dooku to leave the Order and return to his homeworld , where he reclaimed his title of Count and heritage as a nobleman after overthrowing his corrupt brother, Ramil.

He is an antagonist in the Star Wars prequel trilogy , appearing in both Episode II — Attack of the Clones and Episode III — Revenge of the Sith , played by Christopher Lee , [1] [2] as well as associated media, such as books , comics , video games , and television series. Lee reprised the role in the animated film that launched The Clone Wars series. After becoming disillusioned with the corruption within the Galactic Republic 's Senate and losing his faith in the Jedi Order, he eventually falls to the dark side of the Force and becomes Darth Sidious ' second Sith apprentice, after Darth Maul. Dooku plays a pivotal role in Sidious' rise to power, leading the Confederacy of Independent Systems made up of numerous planetary systems seeking independence from the Republic throughout the Clone Wars , all the while engineering the creation of the Republic's clone army. Although Dooku hopes this will allow him to rule the galaxy alongside Sidious, as well as eventually overthrow him, he is ultimately betrayed by his master who arranges his death at the hands of his replacement, Anakin Skywalker , falling to the dark side and becoming Darth Vader. Dooku's character and Christopher Lee's portrayal in the prequel films were met with generally positive reactions from fans and critics. Since the release of the films, Dooku has been highlighted as one of the best Star Wars villains, and a foil for Anakin Skywalker, whose transformation into Darth Vader is foreshadowed through Dooku's own fall to the dark side. Burton had previously voiced Dooku in the micro-series Star Wars: Clone Wars , and went on to voice him in most of his subsequent animated and video game appearances. Count Dooku is introduced as the main antagonist of Attack of the Clones , as a former Jedi Master who abandoned the Jedi Order after losing faith in the Republic the Jedi served. He is also the leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems , a confederation of planetary systems rebelling against the Galactic Republic. After capturing Obi-Wan on Geonosis, Dooku tells him that he is attempting to save the Republic, explaining that thousands of senators are under the influence of a Sith Lord named Darth Sidious. In an attempt to convince Obi-Wan to join him, Dooku reminds him of his late master, Qui-Gon Jinn , who was Dooku's apprentice, and claims that he also would not have served the Republic had he known that a Sith was in control. A Jedi strike team eventually arrives on the planet to rescue the trio, and are soon joined by the Republic's new clone army , resulting in a large-scale battle between the Republic and Separatist forces. Dooku tries to flee, but Obi-Wan and Anakin follow him and engage him in a lightsaber duel.
However, he implanted a listening device in Hardeen's rifle case, revealing that he knew that Hardeen was Kenobi all along. His old enemy Lorian Nod, somewhat reformed, was now running Junction 5 and pretended to be his ally, lord dooku. Why didn't Count Dooku go by Darth Tyranus publicly?
Once a Jedi -- trained by Yoda -- he became disillusioned with the Jedi Order and thirsted for greater power. The inspiring story of a dream achieved -- and a significant contribution to Episode II's memorable villain. Within the first decade of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine 's rule, Count Dooku emerged as the face of the Separatist movement, rallying systems to his cause -- though some planets, such as the strategically located trade world of Eriadu, resisted his entreaties. On Geonosis , he conspired with other leaders to construct a massive droid army that would overwhelm the Republic. He was surprised to find, however, that Obi-Wan Kenobi had made his way to the system while on mission. Once the Jedi was captured, Dooku claimed he was glad to meet him -- as the former Master of Qui-Gon Jinn , Dooku had heard only good things about Obi-Wan -- and asked for his help.
Yes it is. Indeed, as Ventress learns about her new master, so will we. We meet his sister. We meet his brother. One challenge facing Scott was showing Dooku before he turned to the ways of the Sith, while not undercutting his impact as a villain, or making him too sympathetic. Scott illustrates this through his relationship with Sifo-Dyas, who received only a mysterious mention in Attack of the Clones and was fleshed out a little more in The Clone Wars. In exploring a Jedi who pushes these boundaries, Scott was keen not to retread previous stories in the same vein. There would be a reason that Yoda would want to take him. And in Dooku: Jedi Lost , she may be at her lowest. And then she basically goes into another form of servitude, willingly to a certain degree.
