Little Italy York has become one of our favourite restaurants. Since we moved to York a year ago, we have been dying to go to Little Italy, an Italian restaurant in York.
YORK has so many restaurants — with new arrivals every month — that it can be a challenge to pick a good one. That's why you can't beat a personal recommendation, whether from a friend, colleague — or our Eating Out column! Little Italy is one of York's culinary hits. If you've had a string of misses and are looking for some decent food that's worth shouting about, this is your place. But do book ahead. This is already a popular restaurant, well-established on the eating out scene having been opened by owners Andrea and Mandy Gaias in If you want a cheap and cheerful Italian where you can snap up a pizza or a bowl of pasta for under a tenner, sorry, this is not it.

I returned some years later and to be honest it was not a good night. Staff were arguing in the restaurant and the food was taking a back seat. However, longevity in the York restaurant scene means, it has got to be good. Booked on a Thursday start of a bank holiday weekend. They were closed wed so left a message and they got back to me next day. Best slot available was so we took it. Entered, found our way up the staircase and were seated quickly. Were given menus and half asked by the friendly staff about drinks. Aperol spritz was available so we went for it.

Little Italy used to be much bigger than it is today. This part of Manhattan has a lot of history. This house used to be a meeting place of the Italian Mafia bosses. Today, that area is a shoe store. I would have happily paid a bit extra per dish. They were closed wed so left a message and they got back to me next day. I would advise booking a table before as it gets busy! The ability to comment on our stories is a privilege, not a right, however, and that privilege may be withdrawn if it is abused or misused. However, longevity in the York restaurant scene means, it has got to be good. Staff were arguing in the restaurant and the food was taking a back seat. It came a bit over cooked and was a bit dry. Not cheap but not extortionate prices for these. We did make an attempt to one Sunday afternoon but it was closed, so it was so nice to actually eat at Little Italy. Olives were in oil with a couple of slices of chilli which added to them. A large bowl was brimming with dark shells, all opened invitingly to reveal the tender trophies inside.
