She did pretty well but there is a lot to hold on to. I remember enjoying Little House books but can't recall when I read them. The new town of De Smet is unsettled though and filled with others longing to make a better living for themselves. The Boxcar Children is a 3. Many times they have surprised me and comprehended the material better than other "at level readers" because they were so interested in the topic and read carefully. He's pretty much on target for reading but may not be "his cup of tea". So, I try to keep levels in mind when working with students, but if a child is really interested in a series or topic I let them try it. For your son, the Time Warp Trio books should be a big hit.
