A treasured asset within the local community, The Lexi Cinema tasked RISE Design Studio with revitalizing a square meter parcel of vacant land in the rear car park of the existing Edwardian gabled brick theatre. Used as a makeshift bar by locals, RISE Design Studio and The Lexi team consulted Brent Council who advised the initial concept, a formal beer garden, would not be possible due to noise constraints but an enclosed second screen might be feasible. Brent Council was instrumental in supporting the project - titled The Lexi Hub - through continuous advisory and dialogue, ensuring planning policy and community needs were balanced. Located in a residential area, The Lexi Hub required a sensitive design approach to exercise consideration for the close neighboring homes adjacent to the site.

Lexi cinema screenings are different to subtitled screenings as they provide a transcription of all of the audio from a film, displayed at the bottom of the cinema screen.

A year on from the Women Life Freedom movement that shook the Islamic Republic of Iran to the core we are celebrating the Persian New Year Nowruz by showcasing some fantastic films directed by Iranian women. Nowruz is the celebration of the coming of spring and the chance for rebirth, an important theme for many filmmakers of Iranian descent. Iranian women have been central in cinema from the rise of the Iranian New Wave Cinema to the current day. Simply by telling stories through the lens of a woman puts these filmmakers in cross hairs of the Iranian regime. Many have been arrested or forced to leave their country, some are now only making films abroad, a freedom to tell stories that they could never tell in Iran. This is our tribute. Growing up in the UK she went back to Iran and made several documentaries before being banned from working there. Event timings. Through a series of internationally acclaimed programs the SI is making a major difference for the families of Lynedoch Village and the surrounding area.
