Here, we chat to Lauren about everything life and career to find out just what it is that makes this one a stand-out…. How did you first get into it and was it something you always knew you wanted to do for a career? I actually came upon it by accident — I was discovered at the Kirribilli Markets when I was just 11 years old. I modelled as a child for about a week until they realised I was too tall for all the clothes and was booked as an adult from then on. There were times where I walked away from it a bit throughout school and university, but I keep coming back to it. Honestly, the hardest thing is probably the rejection and dealing with how fickle the industry can be.

I make bespoke menswear accessories, primarily bow ties, and pocket squares. The business was born out of a need for beautifully quirky, quality menswear accessories at an affordable price, something I feel is currently lacking on the high street. Apart from creating things what else do you do? I enjoy dancing, and am part of a cabaret dance troupe. From the moment I could pick up paintbrushes, pens and pencils it was all that I wanted to do. My passion for making has been a constant in my life, so much so that it was never even considered I would do anything else. I gravitated towards hands on classes, with art and technology naturally being my favourites! What do you love most about working in your chosen discipline? I think textiles is one of the most rewarding creative disciplines, because there is such a huge scope for experimentation, and so many levels of interaction. The feeling of accomplishment holding that finished item in your hands is always worth it, whether it took an hour, or a year!
