I booked my car in for an oil and filter change at Kwik Fit Lisburn. My amber engine management light had come on a few days before and I asked my mechanic to have a look at the car. After putting the car on the diagnostics machine he recommended a The oil to be changed as it was a little gloopy and a new filter and b A sensor in the exhaust was faulty and needed replaced as it was causing the car to stall every now and again and it was the reason the engine management light was on. My mechanic was happy to do both jobs for me and advised neither were extremely urgent but I had to wait two weeks for him. Due to the fact that he had mentioned the oil and the filter I preferred to get that part completed asap and Kwik Fit had an immediate slot available so I grabbed it.

I've been driving 14 years and only had the misfortune of having to go to a Kwik fit twice as it was the only place open on a Sunday. First time was maybe 12 years ago when I had a puncture on a Sunday morning they repaird the puncture no problem but tried to convince me I needed new pads and discs on a car that wasn't 6 months old. The second time was Sunday just gone. Same thing had a puncture and couldn't really wait untill Monday as I had to leave early to be somewhere. So I reluctantly went to kwik fit who tired to tell me it wasnt repairable even though it was center of the tred and i hadnt driven on it flat. I told them to leave it and drove off. Gullible mugs and little competition on Sundays. Word of mouth used to be great to tell whether a garage or especially a tyre fitter was good or not - these days, with the Interweb, liars abound and unless several of your most trusted friends or family have frequented one of these and know their stuff technical side , then quite often its a lottery as to whom to believe. Customer service in this country has gone to pot over the last 25 years. Very few genuinely good firms left - some branches of fitters are fine, most seem not to be, at worst technically ok for simple stuff, but as you say wanting to get business by conning punters into thinking there's more wrong with their car than there actually is. My local literally a stone's throw away recently changed hands to be a Tyre City - to be honest, I'd never heard of them before this, and given most if not all the major chains are franchises, I can't see any difference to them from before. I used my main dealer 12 miles away instead - I wouldn't use them unless forced to, which is where I'm sure they make most of their profits. Sums it up perfectly, really. Their target audience are those who don't know better or those caught in a jam who need a convenient fix. Once late on a Sunday afternoon, the exhaust had fallen off our Citroen ZX at the very begining of a journey back from holiday in Suffolk to Scotland.
Kwik fit do they deserve their bad reputation? I am looking to change my car's tyres and looking around online I found that Kwik Fit offer really good prices for 4 tyres including fitting and disposing of the old ones. My dad went in there the other day to get his brakes checked, they came back with about quids worth of work that wasn't needed, kwik fit - deal reviews, just front pads and discs were required.

Honestly, that is a pretty useless response and begs the question, why give out time slots when they are meaningless??? As above, if one is willing to accept a delivery on behalf of a neighbour, there is nothing to prevent one using a false signature. I contacted customer services who did seem to be taking me seriously at first but then just referred me to an area manager who said he was fully aware of the Lisburn managers poor communication skills and inability to deal with customers but he was correct to not fix the car. I attempted to lighten the mood by entering into conversation about the car and how busy mechanics were these days but his mood did not change. Sat 11 Aug What are you looking for?
