Krakoa is a fictional living island appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, krakoa marvel. Initially depicted as an antagonist, Krakoa has since grown into a sentient habitat for the mutant nation that shares its name.
Fall of X has been in full swing in Marvel's X-Men titles, but the publisher has officially confirmed the X-Men's Krakoan Age will soon be coming to an end. Marvel Editor-in-Chief C. Cebulski presented a trailer previewing three new X-Men titles , debuting in January, chronicling the end of the Krakoan Age. Fall of the House of X , a five-issue mini-series by Duggan and artist Lucas Werneck, will kick off the storyline January 3, Silva, debuts the following week and takes place ten years later in the X-Men's future. We shall see. It's going to be a tough road to hoe between Storm and Magneto.

How did it come into being? Is it sentient? And why are the X-Men living on it? Originally, it was thought to have been located near a nuclear bomb testing sight, and the radiation from it caused the ecosystem of the island to become a sentient hivemind, which was later proved to be false. Krakoa actually started out life as a bigger island, known as Okkara, which was attacked centuries ago by hoards of daemons, brought forth by an enemy wielding the Twilight Sword first mentioned in Dawn of X. The mutant Apocalypse and his original Horsemen fought off these daemons, but it proved impossible to defeat them. Instead, Apocalypse sealed the breach created by the Twilight Sword by cutting the island in two. Krakoa is a sentient being, as its original form of Okkara was. The island has its own language and communicates solely through the mutant Cypher, who can understand any language instinctively. Of a kind, yes, Krakoa has powers. All the lifeforms that form Krakoa are all parts of its hivemind, it can also create all sorts of animal and semi-humanoid forms using its own earth.

Krakoa alongside it's twin island Arakko was once the island known as Okkara who ruled by who was ruled by Apocalypse and his family but the island would eventually be split by the twilight sword creating Krakoa and Arakko. When Professor X detected a powerful mutant signal on a remote island in the middle of the pacific using Cerebro , he dispatched the original team of X-Men to investigate. It would turn out that the island Krakoa was the mutant that Xavier detected. Krakoa would capture the X-Men in order to feed off of their strong mutant energies. Xavier would send two other rescue teams to bring back the X-Men.
Captain Krakoa 's identity has officially been revealed, and the unveiling will send ripples of unrest throughout the Marvel Universe, beginning with Captain America. Steve Rogers manages to unmask the mysterious figure after an unsettling battle - only to see his own face looking back at him. The weapon, and Captain Krakoa's attack on Ben Ulrich, ultimately lead to another showdown between the villain and Steve Rogers. This time, Captain America prevails, although Captain Krakoa demonstrates such skill at handling his shield that removing the mask is barely necessary. Soon, two versions of Steve Rogers are staring each other down, along with two diametrically opposed agendas. The "new" version valued Hydra's priorities and adhered to them since childhood, eventually leading him to become a twisted version of Captain America acting as a Hydra sleeper agent. He carried out Hydra's plans far enough to begin turning the country into a fascist regime, but was eventually stopped by the combined efforts of Bucky Barnes, Kobik, and the real Steve Rogers by the conclusion of Secret Empire.

X-Men comics changed forever in with the dawn of the Krakoan era, which has found mutantkind flourish as a self-determined community in a way never before witnessed in Marvel Comics' history — but all eras are predominately defined by their beginnings and endings, and as outgoing X-Men Senior Editor Jordan D. White declared in a recent interview, he and the creators' behind Marvel's various X-titles are, " finishing [their] Krakoa plans. White assured AIPT that the long built toward culmination of the Krakoan era he and his creative teams have been working toward is still in his hands. White confirmed this, saying, " [events] are going to be playing out exactly the same way that we had been planning them. Once these questions were put to rest, the interview went on to touch on topics from across the current "Fall of X" storyline, ranging from the shocking deaths of the latest X-Men roster , to the marriage of Rogue and Gambit , to what lies ahead for Betsy Braddock. Jordan D. White has been the Senior Editor responsible for Marvel's X-Men titles since — meaning he holds a majority share of the responsibility, alongside writers like Jonathan Hickman, for reinventing the franchise, running wild with the characters and the limitless possibilities of mutantkind in a way that was only ever nearly-approached by Grant Morrison's New X-Men run from X-Men readers owe a huge debt of gratitude to White and his work, and it is bittersweet, but fitting that the end of critically acclaimed Krakoan era will also be the end of his time at the helm of X-Men.
