First, it has a different texture and thickness than wrapping paper and traditional wrapping techniques do not work as well with it.

Because no one has extra time during the holidays, right? I decided on a mushroom. Using the skewer I etched the simple outline of a mushroom in the middle of the potato that I cut in half. Then using a sharp knife I cut away from the mushroom outline. Press it onto a paper towel to dry and then paint on the red paint. Roll out your kraft paper and begin stamping the mushrooms in different positions all over the paper. You could do this any way you want, but I find it easier and much faster to just make up a random pattern. Once the red paint is completely dry, go back and using a Q-tip, dip into white paint and make spots on the mushroom cap.
