Owning a Kona razz-around bike is almost a rite of passage when it comes to learning essential skills for the harder side of riding. But does the Shred continue this legacy? The bars are instantly comfy and were the right height without us having to touch any spacers. The low bottom bracket height lends itself to thrashing the bike into corners, and the low centre of gravity helped keep us balanced. The Maxxis tyre combo provided loads of grip and a predictable slide when things went a bit too far. The RockShox Recon Silver fork does its job fine.

This bike i own soo i can tell you every thing about it, it isnt the lightest, but isnt the heaviest bike iv rode, it is great for down hill and prety good for DJ, but i recomend getting it in a small size because of how much eazier it is to throw around. KonaWorld14 Apr 24, at Every shred is a good shred. They have great shocks, a great frame and is really good on the trails. The only down side is that the brakes loosen up alot and the gears get hard, but besides those two things this bike is great for hitting jumps and ridin around town. I like this bike alot! Its my bike that isn't from taget. Pros: Great all around bike, can tackle any type of rock you throw at it. Cons: hard to adjust fork. This is a great bike for a beginner dirt jumper. The great thing about the Shred is its versatility. The key componentry and the frame and fork are still confidently jump-proof and the alloy frame and front end feels consistently lively despite the overall weight. Its mountain bike tyres cut speed and flow on smooth trails and of course gears add noise and potential problems for pure jump work. Add the gears, a seatpost you can run right up to proper pedalling height and grippy High Roller tyres and this feels and looks like a normal mountain bike. The XL tubing means no need for extra reinforcement on the front end either and the deep chainstays and rectangular seatstays are plenty buff enough to take the big stuff. As well as looking like a standard mountain bike the ride position is also long for a dirt jump bike, although different sizes are available if you want something shorter.

I rented this bike at a park and used it to do black diamond downhill trails. The relatively long chainstays helped with stability, meaning the bike was easy to control once in the air.
