I feel like I missed too many things because so much was happening at the same time. It also was super unreal to watch a Turkish film with tones of American 90s flick. The dialogues were kinda funny but solid. It's always when I stumble onto little hidden gems like Dark Waters or its superior alternate title, The Serpent's Tale that I remember just how much I love letterboxd. I can't imagine I would have ever learned of this movie's existence literally anywhere else. I have a real soft spot for obscure esoteric horror, so I had no doubt I was gonna really like it. There's a lot going on here: ancient secrets; cults; conspiracy; gaslighting; vampires; religion; alternate realms; like one of those disappearing dot illusions where you can only perceive parts of it at a time; an absolute fever dream of a movie coated in a hypnotizing moody atmosphere.
