Regularly voted as one of the best beaches in Thailand and indeed Asia, Kantiang Bay is located towards the southern end of Koh Lanta, a minute drive from Saladan Village. Kantiang Bay creates a perfect crescent shape to keep the Andaman Sea flat calm with crystal clear water. Looking up from the beach beyond the road, you will see the mountain range which provides breathtaking scenery around the bay. Even on a busy day, you may find yourself sharing the beach with only a handful of people. The quickest way to get to Kantiang Bay is by Express Transfer , which combines a minivan and speedboat to get you door to door from Krabi Airport to your Koh Lanta hotel. You can also get a Private Minivan Transfer , which is perfect for families and groups of friends. There is a large variety of accommodation in Kantiang Bay, particularly for more upmarket resorts and villas. With a short walk from the beach up to the main road, you will find a handful of shops. These includes a few internet and travel shops, clothes shops, a few ATMs and a beauty salon, not forgetting the usual 7-Eleven.

No one in Bangkok will believe you are going to Koh Lanta. Onwards you'll trundle down dual carriageways, past trucks piled high with spiky pineapples and knobbly jackfruit, onto car ferries - heaving, lumbering, diesel-choking car ferries. Then the island itself, a single-track road, driving through low, shrubby palm groves, getting further and further away from the noise and the bright lights with every twist and curve. And that, there, is precisely the point. It's not as if Koh Lanta is some hidden secret paradise, an untouched spot where no one but the most intrepid backpacker has ever set foot. It's commonly regarded as one of the best islands in Thailand. It's also quite big.

It has an authentic charm and is in a great location right on Ba Kan Tieng beach. This hotel was our favorite in Asia. We originally booked our 5 night stay in one of the bungalows upgrading to one of the bigger rooms after the first night. You get a great cool breeze every night from the water and the beds have mosquito nets so you can comfortable sleep with the windows open. Very helpful and warm. More information about this location. The small village has everything a traveler needs. TIP: Ask the resort for a map of the resort grounds so you can decide on which villa you would like to stay in. Based on 2 reviews. The location wins all. Value for money with your own private villa. This is fine if you want to get involved, as we did one night, but something to consider if you want early nights and are a light sleeper. Most of these resorts or bungalows are located either directly on the sea, or just above the beach with a wonderful sea view. Food delicious.
