Right now none of our Mac's are running the Recon tool. How do we install Recon on all of jamf recon Mac's? We'd like a script we can run on each, that would be the best method.

If you know the IP address of the Mac computer you want to enroll and SSH Remote Login is enabled on the computer, you can enroll the computer by running Recon remotely. This allows you to submit detailed inventory information for the computer. It also allows you to add computers to a site during enrollment. This assigns the user to the computer during enrollment. If you specified a username that matches an existing username in Jamf Pro , the user is assigned to the computer during enrollment.

Following on from the removal of Remote which was unbelievably useful and has no replacement, Recon has been removed and with it my ability to create a QuickAdd package to add a system into JAMF which is already set up and in operation. All of the computers I'm talking about are in ASM, and they are now assigned to JAMF the point being, however, that they were not set up that way originally. There was previously no need for them to be in an MDM due to their environment and use, but now there is, however, short of erasing them, quickadd would have allowed us to add them in and gain MDM management. Yes, quickadd was not perfect but it was a fix to this sort of situation. Yes, erasing a functioning system to enroll it is less than ideal, but it's not something you'd be doing to the same machine over and over. You do it once and carry on. The world of setting up Macs changes. I have fond memories of building Macs via NetRestore, and really fond memories of imaging MacBook Airs via Thunderbolt 2 with DeployStudio, but those things are gone now. I'm confused. We have a Catalina upgrade script that allow users to defer the installation for 1, 2, and 3 hours, checks for free space on the HD and for computer power status skips laptops not plugged in to PS and systems with less than 20GB usable space. Policy is set as recurring check-in, once every day, executed at 4PM client-side limitations. I flush the policy on that system, run sudo Jamf policy, I see the same prompts deferral , and Same script. I have modified the policy, removing the 4PM setting, still nothing. Flushing the policy and running sudo Jamf policy works again. Is there any difference between policies that are forced manually and those scheduled to run at recurring check-ins?

This would seem to mne a extremely basic and needed feature, how did this get ignored for so many years? Would this need to be triggered while working with your user? If so, you could always publish a policy that runs the policy while you're on the phone with them.

I created a script with sudo jamf policy; sudo jamf recon, added it to a policy, and made it available via Self Service. It runs and the check-in time and inventory updates but policies that are set to run on recurring check-in are not triggered. Is there a way to create a policy that I can make available in Self Service that will force the machine to check-in, run any available policies that are set to run on recurring check-in, and update it's inventory?
