I've always had problems with this map from the novel, the only thing the author did was slim down the map from the movie, almost like cheap Photoshop editing. Also, isla nublar map, Nublar is small, but an island like that couldn't have features like that.

When I made the Nublar map update I was trying to picture a "complete" Nublar with things like the aviary, Stego paddock, and Jungle River Cruise in play. And then Jurassic World came and the thing got even worse with a total redesign of the whole island. So, my goal was to make a consistent map of Isla Nublar that could work for both Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies. The topography, on the other hand, was based on what we've seen in the movies, with the use of maps of filming locations.
It is a very compelling piece of work about the relationship between science and ethics, and it is even more relevant now than it was back in the 90s when it was released. The film adaptation by Steven Spielberg left my thenyear-old-movie-enthusiast self literally gobsmacked. When designing the map I decided to approach is as it it was a field guide that visitors could pick up before exploring the park. I chose the novel version of the island, which I felt was more interesting, richer in det ails and easier to research than the one in the film. I think that first paddock also based on lake that was seen in security system shutdown scene.
