Is tank traders worth it

There are supermarkets, gas stations, convenience stores and drug stores that have cages with pre-filled propane tanks out front. Is tank traders worth it could end up with a tank that is much older than the tank you gave them. The second part of the rip off is that they are charging you a lot more for the convenience of exchanging a tank and they hide this extra charge because they count on you not noticing that they are not filling their tanks!

It's been a long time since I have filled a 20lb propane tank. I am looking at buying a new tank because mine has expired. How much does it cost to refill the tank. What are people doing and why? Which Costco in Edmonton does refills and where do I goto get it. And do you know if Costco sherwood park does refils. And I usually get refills at Costco St. They charge by the liter. I assume all propane is equal no reason to pick one tank over another? Tank exchanges are an expensive way to get propane. You have to pay sales tax on them.

I smile when I see container ships sailing past my house laden with stuff made in China. If you do buy a tank and exchange it, you may be getting one with shorter life.
