I always liked that theory, because the whole thing with Annasui seemed odd and it never came up again in the story, and I liked having a possible explanation better than none at all. The problem is that doing this encourages readers to seek out flaws where they may not exist, and to ignore any possible explanation for why they may not be flaws at all.
