I began my riding journey at age three and a half having begged my parents to let me ride just like by big sister and life idol at the time. Upon my first lead rein lesson with Angelina teaching and my mum leading, it quickly became apparent that I was naturally very relaxed on horseback, with my mum turning around only to see me taking a lovely nap on the back of Abo. The first years of my riding journey composed of slow but steady progress on my favourite trusty stead, Abo, and various other ponies including Tankard, Hot Gossip and Vamar. Whilst I was encouraged to pursue other sports including rugby and gymnastics, the best part of my week was undoubtedly Sunday morning trips to Lowu, and later Saturday mornings where I would go to Lowu to watch — in awe — the older girls on the competition team in their group lesson. Eventually, my riding improved, allowing me to be promoted to having my first lesson with Deborah when I was 10 on Blondie and soon after winning a slot on the Competition B Team. At age 11 I was able to attend my first competition at Beas River on Topper in the 50cm class who held my hand the whole time to jump me round clear. I also keenly joined the Inter-schools Competition, riding in the lower division in my first year and afterwards made it onto the higher division team where I had to jump terrifying fences at a staggering 80cm. Over the next few years I came to have various dancing partners, continuing with some eventing and showjumping competitions, but putting most of my energy, focus and drive towards dressage. Each proceeding year, I would be given a new dancing partner to prepare for in the months leading up to the FEI. In , I rode Paddy and whilst we did not quite triumph as I had the prior year, the challenge of riding such a large and long horse after riding smaller, more straightforward ponies provided me with such valuable skills which I carry forward to this day. The success all these horses gave me allowed me lead to a wonderful and chaotic summer of I was selected to be a part of the Inter-Pacific Exchange, competing against riders from Canada, the USA, Australia and New Zealand over a 2 week period in both dressage and showjumping. I was allocated California Sunshine, a year-old OTTB who provided a great challenge for me considering the little training time we had to prepare for the games. By , I was offered a new dancing partner: Mr Bean who, at the time, was a new arrival from the UK and still adjusting to the hotter and more humid climate in HK. Nonetheless, he proved a great partner, allowing me to win my first FEI Senior I Class at Medium level alongside placing 3rd in the Asian Equestrian Federation qualifier for the U21 Dressage Championships, only just missing out on the qualification, and has continued to triumph online competitions since shows have been halted.
