We moved into our builder-grade spec home early last year and immediately noticed the lack of functionality and storage space in the laundry room. For a family of seven, this was not going to work. During the build phase we opted not to upgrade any of the laundry room features due to expense. We knew there was a more affordable way to get the upgrades we needed without breaking the bank. The tile was installed by the builder and was truly the only thing memorable about this space.

One of the aspects of being part of the disability community I love the most is sharing tips and tricks on adaptive living and accommodations. Around my home, there are quite a few accessibility adaptions that Andrew and I have made to make our space functional, safe and comfortable for us to reside. Every few weeks, I will highlight something we use that might be helpful to one of my readers, disabled or not. For today's post I want to talk about a relatively simple solution we use to help us do our laundry. It is a large plastic barrel that we added wheels that we use for our laundry basket. We have two because, hey, we hate to do laundry. Two buckets mean less frequent folding, YAY! But back to the baskets. Because of our disabilities, carrying laundry baskets is not a practical option for us. The wheeled solution is something that Andrew was doing before we got together.

Many of you may not, I strongly encourage you. It was a project full of blood, sweat, and tears. These wire rounds were being used as our tomato cages in our garden up until about a week ago. You see, during this 6 week challenge of remodeling my laundry room, I had ordered some pretty fantastic industrial style laundry carts that were to go in the laundry room. Well, 2 days, count it, 2 DAYS, before my room was to be revealed, I found out from the company that the laundry carts were on back order. I was so mad.
