Hog island osprey cam
This live cam of the Audobon Osprey Nest on Hog Island isn't good for productivity, but it's good for the soul. Look at how cute those little chicks are! Ok, ok
The hoped for blog on migration will be written tonight and appear Wednesday morning. Lots of good information has come in! Thanks to all. If you are still thinking about migration challenges — even in your own area — send them to me before CDT Tuesday the 16th. Xavier continues to bring in lovely prey items — some not so welcome like the Starlings but, it would seem that Diamond is in really good shape for this breeding season.

The webcam shows the nest of a breeding pair of ospreys and gives a view of their daily lives as they breed, nest and raise their chicks. The osprey nest shown is on a platform on top of a 30 foot tower near Hog Island's boathouse. For almost 10 years, the Hog Island osprey cam has followed the dramatic lives of Rachel and Steve. Now a new female osprey called Lady, has taken Rachel's place. The ospreys arrive generally in early April after over-wintering in South America. Egg-laying takes place at the end of the month. After two months of rapid growth, the chicks begin to fly in early August and by early September, they will begin their fall migration travelling solo. An osprey nest, called an eyrie, is generally built on the top of a large tree or in coastal areas on cliff edges and rocks. Ospreys may also use man- made structures including electricity pylons, chimneys and nesting platforms. Man-made structures are used more regularly in North America than in Europe. Ospreys are site faithful and some nests may have been in use for some 20 years, with the birds adding to the nest each year. The nest is a large structure made of branches and twigs and lined with small twigs, moss, bark and grass. To build a new nest from scratch, it takes an osprey pair days to complete.

For almost 10 years, the Hog Island Osprey cam followed the lives of Rachel and Steve, a dedicated Osprey pair who experienced no shortage of drama. Now a new female Osprey, Lady, has taken Rachel's place. Join along as cam fans watch her and Steve take on life and raise a family together. In partnership with explore. Seal Island NWR is host to five seabird livestreamed cams during the nesting season. Watch puffins, guillemots, and their relatives the razorbills and murres and others on the Puffin Loafing Ledge Cam and the Boulder Berm Cam. You will also get glimpses of our tern population, along with other assorted visitors. The Puffin Burrow Cam , Puffin Burrow Exterior View Cam , and Black Guillemot Burrow Cam are definitely the fan favorites, as they are able to give viewers a glimpse into the life of a puffin and guillemot family raising their young. Watch as these dedicated seabird parents meet up each season, build their nests, lay and incubate eggs, and then hatch and feed their chicks. During the season there is even a fan contest, where viewers are encouraged to participate in naming the current year's chicks! Hog Island Audubon Camp hosts six-day birding, ornithology, and natural history programs for adults, teens, and families during the camp season. This additional camera sits atop the Audubon boat house on the mainland at the Todd Wildlife Sanctuary.

Fish continue to come on to the Osoyoos nest. It is 34 degrees C in Osyoos and it is forecast to get hotter. The osplets will take turns self-feeding. Some very good information with a lot of common sense when approaching utility companies. The adults have been on and off the nest. There has been a fledge at the Loch of the Lowes. It feels pretty good in Bird World this afternoon. KS7 fledged in and KS8 in The last one was a little larger but it took only 3 or 4 minutes to finish it. It is CDT.
Breaking News - June 7 - The first of three Osprey chicks has just hatched on the new Osprey live cam recently launched by the Audubon Society and explore.
At the Port Lincoln Osprey nest, Mum laid her third egg of the breeding season right on time. It should be sorted out in a few days. It is 21 degrees C — almost half of what it is in parts of the UK and Europe. That is brief news this morning. It feels pretty good in Bird World this afternoon. Gosh, they look like they are going to be dark like Mum. Already he has brought in two fish to Soo and the kids. So sad for this lovely Osprey couple in their beautiful nest on SF Bay. I had a question and it refers to Finnish Osprey nest 4 but, in fact, it applies to all Osprey nests post-fledge. It is possible there is a perch and Mum is there. The birds gifted me sunflowers in the Vermillionaire boxes for the hummingbirds. So grateful that the duckling is precocial and can pretty much take care of itself if it finds water and plants to eat! This is Hedwig the Elder over eating the seeds that the birds spill everywhere! Let us all hope he finds his way back to QT chick! Looking forward to a good report on Little Bit 17 shortly and more information on Victor.
