HALO is a c 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the survival and care of Havanese dogs. Our goal is to save one Havanese at a time. Since we were formed in , we have rescued Havanese. Most of our rescues are from puppy mills with a small number coming from animal shelters or owner surrenders. Many of the mill dogs we rescue are about to be euthanized because they are no longer considered "profitable" by the puppy mill — a 7-month old puppy is too old to sell at a pet store; a 9-year old female is no longer producing large enough litters; or there are health issues that would cost money to treat.
