Just like the explosion of TV programming meant more incredible shows than ever, the rapid growth of the microbrand segment has meant more amazing watches than ever. But if you believe in heaven, halios watches, you have to believe in hell, and with a plethora of good watches comes a plethora of bad watches, halios watches. On the bright side, that makes finding and owning one all the more rewarding. Such is the case with the Fairwind, a watch that had been on my radar since first being shown back in alongside the upcoming Universa. Despite my eager and bleary-eyed attendance at both SIHH and Baselworld this past year, the release of the Halios Seaforth has nevertheless become a highlight of my horological calendar. Halios, a darling of the now-maturing internet micro-brand dive watch scene, launched the Seaforth this past July in a mix-n-match format, offering multiple dials and bezel options to maximize appeal for the widest possible audience. From black dials and black sapphire bezel inserts to pastel blue dials and fixed sterile bezels, the handful of options makes for a wide range of possible Seaforth expressions. Halios is based in Vancouver, Canada, and is a one-man business fueled by the dive watch passion of one Jason Lim. Over the better part of the last decade, Lim has successfully grown Halios into a stable and well-loved producer of a respectable lineage of sport watches, from the early Holotype, to the Laguna, the Tropik, and now the Seaforth, to name only a few. Production runs are small and while Halios may eventually produce additional examples of a given model, they typically do so with tweaked designs and new dial options. Unlike the Tropik, which was also offered in bronze, the Seaforth is available only in steel.

Halios is a brand focused on bringing diver watches to more affordable price points without sacrificing functionality, reliability, and overall quality. They manufacture both analog and digital watches that have high water resistance ratings built for everyday use and extreme water activities. The goal of the company is to create well-built watches with iconic designs, supported by after-sales service that exceeds customer expectations. But on a positive note, this allows Halios to concentrate on the quality of every product they release to the market. As a tool watch, Halios watch cases were designed to be very sturdy to withstand all kinds of stress you may subject the watch to.

After the first series of the original Seaforth sold out and then the subsequent offerings proved to be so popular that Halios's site was unable to survive the ordering process, the three-handers are in production and ordering for the Seaforth GMT starts today.

With a simple brushed finish complimented by an expanding polished bevel on each lug, the Seaforth is casually elegant and, depending on your choice of dial, decidedly low-key. Sold via eBay.
