During interpolation, the variable value might be escaped in order to conform to the syntax of the query language and where it is used. For example, a variable used in a regex expression in an InfluxDB or Prometheus query will be regex escaped.

I thought that what I was trying to do was going to be quite straightforward, but I cannot figure it out to save my life. The user selects the proper value for the dashboard. But I cannot figure out how to reference the value url3. I have searched and searched, and tried every combination of variables and formats that I can come up with, but have yet to come up with the magic sauce. Is this possible? I am running a little bit older version of Grafana: 8. You need only one variable.

Query variables enable you to write a data source query that can return a list of metric names, tag values, or keys. For example, a query variable might return a list of server names, sensor IDs, or data centers. The variable values change as they dynamically fetch options with a data source query. Query variables are generally only supported for strings. If your query returns numbers or any other data type, you might need to convert them to strings in order to use them as variables. For the Azure data source, for example, you can use the tostring function for this purpose.

I am am trying to figure out to create a variable that contains the value of another variable. Why am I doing this? I have one dashboard that is presently supporting 4 api and are part of a collection. However there is some cases when I only need a subset of the fully qualified name. Example: MyCollection. MyApi1 will be passed to ElasticSearch because the fields. In other cases, I need only the the application part of the fully qualified name with different casing requirements e. I want to be able to have one dashboard that supports all the APIs that are in the collection and variable will hopefully get me to that goal. Are you asking me for additional information about my installation?
