This time around, Alfheim is a little different, and is feeling the effects of Fimbulwinter in its own unique way. This makes posting guides — and screenshots — a bit tricky. Nornir Chests are puzzle-based chests that ask you to locate and either activate or destroy three Runes in the nearby environment. On the other side, head left at the fork and drop down the ledge to find the chest. It'll be on your right. The C Rune can be found to the left of the Nornir Shine on top of the cliff. Players will be able to access the area as part of the Secret of the Sands favor , which becomes available once players have completed the game's fourth chapter. As some of the enemies found throughout the area are fairly strong though, players may want to wait until a little later on before venturing into the sandstorm. There's a lot to see and do in The Barrens, not to mention several other areas which can be accessed directly from it. With this in mind, it should come as no surprise to learn that it's also home to one of God of War Ragnarok 's 35 Nornir Chests, which players will need to open in order to max out Kratos' health and Spartan Rage meters. Like the previous area, there are an awful lot of things to see and do here, with multiple favors, another stranded Hafgufa, and two Nornir Chests being just a few of the things that are on offer to players. Though one of the Nornir Chests in the Forbidden Sands is relatively easy to find and open, the other is surprisingly well-hidden and requires a complex solution involving Sigil Arrows, Sonic Arrows, and Kratos' iconic Blades of Chaos. With a little help though, God of War Ragnarok players shouldn't have too much trouble with it, as knowing where to look can make life a lot easier. The first Forbidden Sands Nornir Chest can be found behind a moveable pillar in a small alcove to the southwest of the region. Players will probably want to complete the Song of the Sands favor first though, as although the chest can be opened during the sandstorm, the process becomes much easier after the second Hafgufa has been set free and players can see what they are doing. Like many of the other Nornir Chests in God of War Ragnarok , opening this one will require players to ignite three torches, the first of which can be found in the enclosed area with the chest. The second is on a stone pillar opposite the pillar that players need to move in order to access the area with the chest, though this one will need to be ignited using a combination of Sigil Arrows and the Blades of Chaos rather than just the latter. The third and final torch is over to the right of the second one up on a large rock shelf. It's a little hard to reach due to how high up it is, but with some smart use of Sigil Arrows, players should be able to get it lit after a few attempts.

Ah, the Forbidden Sands, one of the largest single areas in the game. Have Atreus create a bridge and carry the crystal across. Start with the bubble closest to the torch. Continue along lighting bridges and murdering dark elves until you climb a winding staircase. Chuck your ax at it to kill it. Cross to the opposite side by the snake head statue-thing you knocked over earlier. From the Mystic Gateway, walk up the left path until you reach a crack in the wall that you need to squeeze through. The trick to defeating a Valkyrie is identifying and responding to her attacks. It should rebound to the right Twilight Stone, then off of that into the three Nest Vines!
