Gloomhaven classes
There are six starting classes in Gloomhaven which all play very differently, gloomhaven classes. I chose my Gloomhaven starting class based on the logo on the box and it was fun… to begin with.

With a total of 6 potential starting classes in the base game and a further 11 that can be unlocked by playing through the campaign understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each class is useful before you commit your time to playing a Gloomhaven class until retirement. This roster was further expanded by 1 in Forgotten Circles and 4 in the Jaws of the Lion expansion for a total of 22 potential mercenaries to build your own Gloomhaven story. While every character class in Gloomhaven is capable of contributing to the campaign content there are some class options that simply offer a greater chance of success, particularly when you factor in the difficulty selected and your party composition. This guide is equally applicable to the board game and digital version of Gloomhaven and the applicable expansions as there are only minor differences between these releases. Gloomhaven classes
Classes are the archetypes representing the heroes you control during the game of Gloomhaven. Rather than representing an individual person, classes are more akin to "jobs" or "archetypes", so multiple of each class may exist in the world of Gloomhaven. At the start of the game, only that games' and its expansions' Starting Classes are unlocked; other classes must be unlocked by completing Personal Quests or accomplishing other objectives that unlock them. Classes each have unique hand sizes, health, perks, and cards. Unlocking locked classes unlocks events listed on their character mat. Retiring any character unlocks events, also listed on the character mat. As a class levels, you must select one of the two level up cards of the newly gained level, or pick an unselected card from a prior level. When choosing cards, players may pick the newly gained card as one of the cards that compose their hand for that scenario; hand size remains the same. Scoundrel : Serving as the traditional gloomhaven classes inspired character the Scoundrel is similarly focused on single target melee damage although has a completely different playstyle to achieve this compared to the Mindthief above.

But we need to be in melee range to deal decent damage and hand out crowd controlling negative conditions. The Doomstalker generally has no issue performing this task either with a large number of movement cards and ranged attack cards several at range 5 and even a range 6 that give them reach well ahead of other Gloomhaven classes. By removing significant risk from scenarios your need to plan carefully is diminished by having this class in your party and allows for plenty of lazy unoptimised rounds without consequence. The Demolitionist comes with a 9 card hand size and middling health value that requires them to carefully use the battlefield to deal high damage and limit the opportunities for enemies to return the favour. The Elementalist deck is incredibly versatile. He also has a minor heal which you can use in an emergency to heal yourself and others. So you may want to save the card for refreshing items instead.
