This shows how much Gilgamesh loves his people, in fact he loves them so much he is willing to sacrifice himself for them as he did when Uruk was under attack by the three goddess alliance. The king's core beliefs is this: do as you please, if it gives you pleasure then do it who cares what you are born to do, do what you want to do that, is his philosophy in life as he rebelled against the gods and sought after his own pleasures, now what these pleasures are is unknown for he says amassing wealth and collecting treasures do not give him joy or pleasure in life to him this is like second nature.
